What Makes The Boondocks My Personal Favorite?
I first got addicted to The Boondocks when I came across it in the form of a comic strip and so when I heard that the comic strip was being turned into a television series, my joy knew no bounds. I was waiting in front of my television set, glued to my chair (I guess I could be removed from that chair at that time only if the earth turned upside down), waiting for the first episode of the series to start. And after that I never missed even a single episode of the animated series. I was there promptly at sharp 11:30 p.m. every Sunday with the channel tuned to Cartoon Networks Adult Swim waiting for The Boondocks. However I am really disappointed that the series has not been revived after last year when it finished airing Season 2. But I guess there is still hope that my favorite cartoon will return to the small screen as nothing has been officially said about the series and there are ample examples of series that have made a comeback even two years after their last season was aired.
But anyhow, today I am here to tell you about the reasons that make The Boondocks one of my most loved cartoons. Well, to start with, The Boondocks did not have to be introduced to the audiences as it was already popular in the form of a comic strip. Most of the audiences were already aware of most of the characters as well as their backgrounds. Secondly, the humor of the show which resulted from the antics and sometime semantics of the lead characters Huey, Riley and Grandpa, was good enough to keep people attentive towards the show as they also received a loud and clear message through this witty animation. Also The Boondocks stirred up an upheaval of sorts for its fiery political expression, pervasive language, sexual content, and frequent and unrepentant use of the N-word, which was quite hard hitiing to a particular section of our society. Many people have criticized the show for being crap and have not let go of any opportunity to decry what they see and make big scenes in magazines, newspapers, and television. But I tend to disagree with them as I feel that The Boondocks TV Show rocks!
